It has been an interesting few weeks with Christmas sales hitting the stores in July. Although this sounds too early, stores have now started sales and promotions in the hope that more customers will stop by and purchase products.

What's good about this is the opportunity for people to purchase their Christmas gifts in advance. For those who have poor time management or would rather wait until sales, the Christmas in July sales may be the answer you are looking for. Retailers who are advertising the sale include Toys R Us, Target and Sears.

There are a few bargains and great deals depending on what you are looking for. But if you are short for cash this holiday season, check out the current sales.

Have Yourself A Merry Green Christmas

Going green is the IN thing, even during Christmas time. So how could you celebrate Christmas and still help the environment?

Here are just some of the things you can do:

1. Join a tree-planting drive. Name the trees after your nieces and nephews and ask them to take care of them if/whenever they can. Who knows, they might enjoy watching the trees grow.

2. Reuse still-decent Christmas wrappers. You could even make a collage using different wrappers.

3. Organic food basket. All the items are made from organic ingredients.

4. Recycled old Christmas decorations. Update them with some paint job or stick some accessories.

5. Give-away packets of seeds of fruit trees, vegetables or flowers. You could even give an herb in a small pot.

6. Express your creativity. Make Christmas tree decorations out of old carton boxes, tin cans, plastic bottles, etc. The children will definitely enjoy making them.

7. During parties, use real utensils, plates and cups rather than plastic ones. That's less garbage to throw out.

8. Finally, don't forget to segregate the wastes into recyclables and non-recyclables.

So...are you planning to go green this Christmas?

The Art Of Recycling And Repacking Gifts

The Art Of Recycling And Repacking Gifts

You may have some generous friends who would gave you a perfume, clothes, small appliance or kitchen items in the past. You could own a few of them but use only one. Or you simply just did not like that yellow blouse too much that's recently given to you. You appreciate the sweet gesture, of course!

So...instead of keeping them inside your drawer or displaying them just to gather dust, it may be best to bless other friends or relatives by giving them away. Though it is not often nice to give away what was given to you, it is a lot better for other people to use them.

But be careful not to give the item back to the person who gave it to you. If this happens, it's like slapping them back with their gift so don't expect any gift from that person ever again. So always take note of who gave you what. Also, make sure that the items you will be repacking are neither expired nor broken. They may be unused or slightly used with labels or box still intact.

Another thing, if you are to wrap the item, don't use previously used paper bags or wrappers from expensive or high-end shops. It is not nice to rub the 'expensive' gift to the other person's nose although you actually did not buy it. Simply put your gift in a nice paper bag or cover it with nice wrapper and a bow and write a sincere Christmas wish.

Early Christmas Shopping...Anyone?

Early Christmas Shopping...Anyone?
© Brian Forbes
The year 2010 is already half-way through, in case you haven't noticed. Before we all know it, Christmas time will be here again.

Speaking of Christmas, it is never too early to think of gifts to give on that coming festive season. You may be one of those people who like to join the crowd during Christmas sale or enjoy the holiday rush. But if not and if you already have a list of the regular people whom you give presents to, it is best to start looking for Christmas gifts for them this early.

Just a few things to remember when doing your early Christmas shopping: 1) what were the gifts you have already given them and 2) the price limit for each item. Whenever you do some window shopping or maybe just checking out a new store or passed by a flea market, you may possibly find something that the people on your list would like.

Among the advantages of early Christmas shopping are no neck-and-elbow struggling, no holiday rush, no one-time big cash out, no long lines at the cashier and no late night traffic. You may also want to buy gift wrappers in bulk. Then you can always keep the rest neatly packed for next year's Christmas wrapping sessions.
